PostSubject: One more question....   Fri Sep 18, 2009 11:47 pm

....maybe I should just ask all of 'em in the technical area, but since they're American-specific I figured I'd ask in here.

Since the rules allow aftermarket axles in the right rear, what brand of axle do you guys run? Any brands to stay away from?

Thanks.

I have a 8.5 bolt-in axle rear end as well. Do you guys prefer them to the C-clip ones?

So the general consensus is to run stock until if/when they break?

I was running a 7.5 before, I didn't run fast enough/do well enough to worry about breaking an axle. I'm building a car right this time, and I really don't want to roll it if I break an axle. With the bolt-in I shouldn't have to worry about that though, right?

i prefer the bolt in. there easier to change if u break one at the track. i never broke a rr axle. just a lr but it broke inside the housing. but with the bolt in ones we built an extra plate and put it over the the plate on the axle. gives it more strenght.

Good deal, the extra plate was exactly what i was planning on doing. How thick of a plate do you use?

its a little bit thicker than the plate that is already on the axle

Ran American Stock for 2yrs. Have broke 2 stock axles which on the 2nd axle i flipped my car. Since the flip, Ive been running after market axles and havent flipped but have broke 3 of those since then.
